Surprise, Surprise: the Passat Estate gets extra useful dose of styling and practicality

A few weeks ago you might have seen the Volkswagen Passat saloon but the new estate version is more practical and stylish with a bigger boot and improved refinement levels. It has better handling than its predecessors and is in very close competition with Ford Mondeo. It has more advanced features than the sweet Mondeo which is also down on the price list.

You might agree that we Brits like estates and if it is a Passat, then there is nothing better than buying it straight away. It is very classy and luxurious with mild looks on a fully loaded interior package and the most surprising thing is that Volkswagen has imported 9,500 estates more than their quota for UK last year. UK has purchased more estates alone than countries in the entire Europe, second only to Germany.

Eighth generation Passat saloon is also very impressive package with hi-tech technologies and strong handling to give the Mondeo a tough time. All new Passat estate has sharper looks, and feels longer, wider and luxurious than its predecessors but actually is 2mm shorter.

It has a longer wheel base to extend the interior space and add-up extra 47 Litres to boot space to make a total of 650 litres which is more than Ford Mondeo estate.

It has an all-new 2.0 Litre twin turbo Volkswagen diesel engine that produces 237bhp and 500Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 149 miles per hour and takes 6.3 seconds to get 62 miles per hour mark. According to the engine size and power it is relatively a greener vehicle with 140g/km carbon emissions.

This time Volkswagen is offering more than twenty versions of estate from a 1.6 Litre TDI to 2.0 Litre BiTDI, 4motion, and DSG R line trims. Prices will start from £23,745 to £37,000.
